Event in March

Hinamatsuri (雛祭り Hina-matsuri), also called Doll's Day or Girls' Day, is a special day in Japan.

Celebrated each year on 3 March, platforms covered with a red carpet-material are used to display a set of ornamental dolls (雛人形 hina-ningyō) representing the Emperor, Empress, attendants, and musicians in traditional court dress of the Heian period.

The doll (Hina) festival is celebrated one month later than the traditional Doll’s Day in Takayama so that the actual festival day is April 3. Approximately one month before the festival day, traditional (Hina) dolls such as clay dolls, antique dolls, Meiji era dolls, etc. are displayed at various locations throughout the city.
Places: Various locations throughout the city, including tourist facilities and historic houses such as Hida-no-Sato (Hida Folk Village).
Dates: untill 3rd April 2019

Come to Takayama and enjoy Japanese traditional custom!
