You will be lucky if a seat right in front of the roaster is available.

Coffee tastes even better while looking at the roasting machine.

ABOUT US COFFEE

This cafe has won a world roasting competition.

You can enjoy authentic coffee with a wide variety of coffee beans.

You can choose the roast degree of coffee beans, and the staff told me that shallow roasting gives a fruity taste, while normal roasting gives a well-balanced taste.

If you are not sure what to order, the knowledgeable staff will be happy to help you, so I recommend this cafe for everyone, especially for coffee beginners.

Orders are placed ahead of time at the counter just outside the entrance, and you will be shown to your seat after paying the bill.

The first floor has counter seating, and tables are located on the second floor.

The interior is bright and open, with a white base contrasting with the jet-black outside.

What I ordered

  • French toast (800 yen including tax)
  • Americano Coffee (550 yen including tax)

The French toast was so soft that it almost melted in my mouth.

The Americano Coffee, which I ordered shallow roasted, was fruity and had a gorgeous aroma.

Secret cafe near Kinkaku-ji

Bean’s Goody Café

This unique cafe offers Kuromame (Japanese black bean) coffee and vegetarian food.

The interior of the renovated Machiya (Japanese traditional house) offers a relaxing atmosphere with the warmth of wood.

The interior design has a great sense of style, with indirect lighting made of Japanese Washi-paper and flower arrangements.

The cheerful and friendly owner will welcome you.

The cafe has a cozy atmosphere that makes you feel at home, and I stayed for about two hours while enjoying the food and conversation. (Please make yourself at home as long as you like, she says.)

What I ordered

  • Veggie Curry Black Bean Coffee Set (1,150 yen including tax)

*Veggie Curry is served only on weekends and holidays.

Veggie Curry is gluten free, so even those with allergies can eat it without worry.

The curry is gentle with the sweetness of vegetables, but the spiciness of the spices follows afterwards.

The shiny, large black beans have a strong presence and are very satisfying.

The black bean coffee has a rich flavor and is very easy to drink, unlike coffee beans.

Another good point is that you can also enjoy black bean tea made from the leftovers after brewing the black bean coffee, so you can compare the two.

It is nice to stop by after walking around for sightseeing.

The white outside is reminiscent of their signature tofu-pasta and makes it easy to spot them.

What I ordered

  • Tofu-pasta Set (1,850 yen including tax)

The homemade tofu is rich and filling.

It is served with three kinds of powder (yuzu pepper, green tea, and soy sauce), so you can enjoy it.
